I was born deaf and have lived in a silent world all my life. I have been fluent in Auslan and lip reading for many years.
I have been an Auslan teacher for over 25 years working in the Disability sector for over 20 years in various organisations.
I have worked at REDinc. for over six years now and I love how most staff and Participants can sign “Hello” and “How are you?” in Auslan. REDinc. is a friendly place to work, and everyone feels equal.
My favourite thing about being a Support Worker is seeing the growth in people from seed to flower. Being a great Support Worker is about being happy, being caring, showing empathy and having compassion for Participants and staff.
Every day at REDinc. always looks different. REDinc. Participants make the most of each day being happy and enjoying their programs.
I love teaching Auslan every week – Participants are excited to learn a new sign word each week.
