REDinc. Byron Shire Artists Show their True Colours

Published: 13 Nov 2017

An awesome night was had by all at the recent (first ever!) REDinc. Byron Shire Art Expo at Mullumbimby last Friday.  The event saw nearly 100 people from the local area drop by to peruse the beautiful artwork created by the REDinc. artists guided by Art Facilitator, Cheryl Bailey.

James Guppy, a local and world renowned artist, kindly agreed to open the event and shared some very wise words about the different worlds of art and how the work by the REDinc. artists on display was a pure expression of themselves and what art is truly all about.  We are very thankful to James for donating his time and for sharing his insights.

A huge congratulations to the REDinc. artists who exhibited their work at this event.  For many, this was their first ever time picking up a paintbrush; let alone exhibiting their pieces to the public and selling them!  For some artists, the money raised will go towards adventure travels – very exciting!  The work was created over a period of just 14 weeks guided by the wonderful REDinc. Art Facilitator, Cheryl Bailey.

The early visitors caught the worm, with nearly half of all works exhibited sold in just a matter of two hours.  Over $500 was raised with proceeds going to the artists (with a small percentage going to the REDinc. Art program).

It was a cracker of a night – even the rain cleared!  Scroll down for photos of the evening.
