Congratulations Jye! 😀

Jye joined the Transition to Work program in January 2023 after finishing high school. When he first started, he was shy and unsure about what came next after his school life.

One of Jye’s first goals was to get his driver’s licence, as not having one can be a major barrier to employment in the Northern Rivers. He applied himself to the Learner Driver Program and soon gained the confidence to obtain his L plates. Building on that success, he went on to study for and complete his practical assessment for a forklift licence.

Jye also achieved his Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate and gained valuable work experience in a placement that allowed him to put those skills into practice.

Over the following two years, Jye earned his P plates and now holds two jobs—one in a local retail centre and the other providing maintenance and cleaning services at a local doctor’s surgery.

Jye will complete the School Leavers Employment Support Program with not only employment but also the skills and confidence to sustain his future in the workforce.
