Leanne Rose has been coming to REDinc. Art Studio for around 5 years and in that time she has really expanded her artmaking, trying out different materials, mediums, theme and ideas in her artwork.

Of making art, Leanne says:

“I feel good when I’m making art. I learned about art at school and REDinc.  Pictures inspire me and animals really inspire me too. I love animals and I love colours.”

Leanne Rose’s artworks explore colour, repetition and pattern. She uses a variety of media in the creation of her artworks, from pencil, marker pens, crochet, weaving, to acrylic and watercolour paints.

Leanne’s works on paper are a big part of her current art practise. She exhibited a beautiful body of works on paper in May 2017 at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in Ballina, in a group show called Repetition and Milk and Honey. Her work Theatre from this exhibition was used as a feature piece in the Northern Rivers Community Gallery ‘1000 Words’ literacy program; inspiring young students to tell stories based on Leanne’s artwork.

Leanne’s artwork Flower from this series was also chosen as winner of Works on Paper at this year’s Coraki Art Prize, with Leanne winning $1000 in prize money. Coraki Art Prize Judge, artist Marc de Jong said about Leanne’s work ‘Stars, colour sings, form moves and stretches out. Inclusive, cultural, dynamic.’

Leanne will be exhibiting in June/July 2018 with 15 other REDinc. artist’s in the Frequency RED exhibition at Lismore Regional Gallery and we are proud to be able to support and nurture the talents and creative intentions of Leanne Rose and all of our REDinc’s artists from REDinc. Studio.
